SEAMIC_Functions: Derivatives V

In this video we discussed the first derivative test to determine the increasing and decreasing properties of a function. We learned that when the derivative is negative, the function is decreasing, and when it's positive, the function is increasing. We applied this technique to two examples: a simple function with one critical point and a polynomial degree five function with four critical points. By analyzing the sign of the derivative at each interval divided by the critical points, we determined the local minimum and maximum points of the functions. Finally, we briefly mentioned the second derivative test as an alternative method to identify local maxima and minima.
