The 2018 Novembre festival commemorates its 25th anniversary. It’s 25 years of jazz at the Universitat Politècnica de València, an autumn event always noted in the agendas of fans. The program combines, as always, a sample of the best jazz of our community with touches of jazz from abroad. Novembre will open with the piano trio Naima, one of our most non-conformist young groups, with a great energy in live performances and a careful image. It continues on the 21st with the jazz manouche guitarist Stochelo Rosenberg, one of the main international stars of this genre, who performs for the first time in Valencia accompanied by the group of the Mallorcan guitarist Biel Ballester. A tribute to Django Reinhardt and swing in abundance, now that it is back in fashion. On the 22nd we will have the new version of Víctor Jiménez & Friends, the group of this alto saxophonist who takes the stage of the UPV to present his latest project. The music of Víctor Jiménez opens up from the traditions of jazz to the sounds groove and funk. His concert, a tribute to the fusion band Yellowjackets, will be recorded for a live album. And on Friday 23 the festival will close with the Lithuanian singer Viktorija Pilatovic, rising star trained at the Berklee school, who will present her own songs and standards from her first two albums and a preview of the next one, to be released in 2019.
On the 22nd the festival also extends to the other campuses of the UPV with two concerts: in Alcoi, the keyboardist and arranger Santi Navalón will present his long-awaited debut album,Elektrik Jazz Mantra: Silent Songsrecorded after years of collaborating with other jazz and pop artists, and in Gandia, the drummer Vicente Espí, with his quartet Espiral, presents the confirmation of his good form and his assimilation of contemporary jazz trends, along with his usual accomplice, the saxophonist Jesús Santandreu.
