[PAC 2019] Film Lessons: José Pozo

David Moreno, student of the Degree in Audiovisual Communication at the UPV, organizes the lecture series ‘Film Lessons’, at the Gandia Campus of the Universitat Politècnica de València, with the support of the Deputy Directorate of Campus Culture, Campus Alumni Delegation, the Chair of Innovation and the call for Proposals for Cultural Actions (PAC) UPV – 2019.

The cycle Film Lessons will provide the vision of professionals from different areas of the film world.The objective: direction, production, script, animation…  Its objective:  facilitate direct contact with film professionals, especially students of the Audiovisual Communication Degree and the Double Degree in Telecommunication Systems Engineering Sound and Image and Audiovisual Communication, of the Campus of Gandia of the UPV. Attendance is free for anyone interested.

José Pozo, director of animated films and also of real image, screenwriter and  film producer, is the first of the speakers of the cycle.  His lecture is given on Monday, February 4, at 12.30 pm, in the Conference Room 1 of the Gandia Campus.

The film El Cid, the legendwritten and directed by him, won the Goya Award for Best Animated Film in 2004;  Pozo has also directed Donkey Xotenominated for the Goya Animation Award in 2009; Nick (2014) and 73 minutes (2016) and has been producer of the feature film Onlyby Hugo Stuven (2018).

According to David Moreno, director and producer José Pozo will talk about his experience and offer students his vision of the professional reality in the field of film production, as well as job alternatives for people who have just graduated. “He will also reflect on the creative, narrative and production differences between animation and real image projects,” says David F. Moreno;

The series includes lectures by UPV graduates, such as Nacho Ruipérez, graduate in Audiovisual Communication and  director of the film The disinterment and Mari Carmen Cambrils, graduated in Fine Arts and renowned animator in 2 dimensions. Art direction, acting, screenwriting and directing will be the protagonists of the following talks of the cycle Lecciones de cine.

José Pozo: winner of the Goya in 2003 for El Cid. Also director of Donkey Xote (2007), Nick (2014) and 73 minutes (2016); and producer of Hugo Stuven ‘s feature film;Only (2018). José Pozo has made a great leap from the world of animation to the world of real image, gaining extensive experience and becoming a reference in the national film world. We wanted to invite this director and producer to the UPV (Gandia campus) to talk to us about his experience in this world, and thus give the students of the campus a new and professional vision of what will be, possibly, the field of work that they will face in the working world.
