An introductory workshop on how to play the castanets is proposed for those who have an interest in this percussion instrument.
The proposal is to develop a three-session workshop, where professional percussionist Inés García Marín will introduce participants to the exciting art of playing the castanet.
The activity will be limited to 20 participants, who will have to bring their own castanets and a notebook and pen to take notes.
Program:
- Notes basic rhythms
- Warm-up exercises.
- Execution of basic touches.
- Exercises to practice ringing speed.
- Exercises to clean the castanet chime
- Apply the learned castanet touch-ups to a classical Spanish or popular piece of music.
Inés García Marín:He was born and raised in Castellón de la Plana, where he studied percussion since he was 8 years old. After finishing the Professional Conservatory of Music in the same city, he played in various musical groups.
He later had the opportunity to be an exchange student in Porto, Portugal, and formed his own rock/metal band there with students from various countries. She also met many people from Eastern regions and was able to improvise with them, using the cajon and other percussion instruments. In addition, she learned to perform better immersed in Arabic and Flamenco rhythms.
A few months later, the Polytechnic University of Valencia awarded him the PROMOE scholarship and he was able to go to NTUA, the most famous university in Taiwan to study percussion in Taipei. There he was able to learn from the hand of the famous conductor, composer and percussionist Yiu Kwong Chung. At the same time he actively participated in a famous orchestra in that city, where he was able to play as a soloist in the concert celebrating 33 years of collaboration between New Taipei and Sternberg, a German city.
