The UPV opens two exhibitions in which the constructive and aesthetic renovation of the Fallas monuments of recent decades is reviewed through more than a hundred pieces -among models, drawings, ninotsThe book includes a series of photographs and documents that allow us to establish a journey through the recent history of the innovative fallas in the city of Valencia. In addition, as a case study, the artistic and structural research for the creation of the Falla Politècnic is reviewed.
The first of the exhibitions, “Opening doors. Innovative Falles in the city of Valencia“The exhibition takes place in the exhibition hall of the Rectorate of the UPV and shows a journey through the history of innovative fallas divided into four areas: the relationship between fallas artists and visual artists in the fallas designed by Dalí, Sento Llobell, Ortifus, Sigfrido Martín Begué, Óscar Mora, Okuda or Pichiavo, and the background of the rupture through the proposals of Ricardo Rubert, Vicente Luna, Manolo García or Alfredo Ruiz; the formal changes and the most innovative contributions carried out by the Fallas I+E (innovation and experimentality), with the incorporation of new technologies such as the video mapping and sound elements; the participatory failures and the critical appropriation of public space in which the spirit of the velvet blindand a fourth documentary area that serves as a link between the other three and brings together magazines, llibretsThe project is based on a series of articles, academic papers and interviews with the protagonists.
The second of the samples, “Opening doors. Research at the Falla Politècnic“The exhibition takes place in the Sala Josep Renau of the Faculty of Fine Arts of the UPV, and traces the discontinuous collaboration of the teachers of this Faculty with the commission of the Falla Politècnic (Avd. dels Tarongers-Universitat Politècnica – Camí de Vera). This exhibition aims to highlight the result of the collaboration that has been developing since 2013 and that has resulted in theplantà of 11 fallas coordinated by the team formed by Jaume Chornet Roig and Leonardo Gómez Haro, professors of the Department of Sculpture, members of the research group Laboratorio de Creaciones Intermedias and professors of the Título Propio de Experto Universitario en Monumentos Efímeros y Tematizaciones, taught by the UPV.
