Vol de l’estructura “Homenatge a Velázquez”.
Flying Structuresis one of the most representative series of José María Yturralde’s trajectory, three-dimensional works capable of flying with which he began to experiment in the early 70’s, when he was interested in bringing the work of art from its usual space, from the museum, from the tanked place.
This exhibition is the result of the workshop organized by the Area of Art and Heritage Funds of the Universitat Politècnica de València, from 4th to 9th April 2022, which had as its purpose the creation of kites, aesthetically significant light structures, capable of flying with natural energies such as the wind.
From the experiences seen in the artistic field by José María Yturralde, the students designed and produced the flying structures shown in this exhibition, in the process of creation of which converged technological aspects related to art and science. The workshop will culminate with the flying of the structures built by the students at the Malva-rosa beach in Valencia on April 9th, 2022.
Yturralde’s kite “Homenatge a Velázquez”, will fly again on May 13th, 2023, in the admirable environment that Gandia’s beach offers. https://www.youtube.com/embed/z0oi4kmklqs
