Water polo

The water polo section of the UPV was born in the early 90s. The women’s and men’s sections have been building and consolidating the name of “Poli” in the regional leagues thanks to the leagues and cups won throughout its history. Both teams have participated in National Promotion Phases on numerous occasions. In 2010 the water polo section disappears after budget cuts, but the players created Waterpolo Levante following the sports project and generating a quarry to nurture the first teams. In 2022 the UPV Waterpolo sports section returns stronger than ever, with a total of 160 members from the age of 7 and 10 teams, among which are the first and second senior team (both female and male) and the master team;

Since its creation, the first teams have always played in the Honor League of the Valencian Community (first autonomous league), although national promotion championships have been disputed. In 2021 the women’s team won the silver medal in the Spanish Second National Division championship.

Waterpolo UPV is based at the UPV swimming pool. The senior teams train 4 days a week, starting at 21.30h, combining physical training (dry) and “water” work in the pool.
