Salvador Calvo shot his first film “1898. Los últimos de Filipinas” in 2016. The film, which tells the story of the last group of Spanish troops in the town of Baler, received nine Goya nominations, including Best New Director.

After a successful start in the world of cinema, this graduate in Information Sciences with an extensive experience in directing television projects, directed the short film “Maras”. With it he achieved great recognition at festivals, being nominated for the Goya and Forqué awards as best fiction short film;

For his next work, “Adú”, he won the Goya Award for Best Director in 2021. The feature film also won the Goyas for Best New Actor, Sound and Production Direction. In it, Calvo narrates the drama surrounding immigration from a story with three intertwined stories.

With his third film, “Valley of Shadows”, he takes the viewer to the peaks of the Himalayas to tell the story of a couple of tourists who, seeking to escape from civilization, end up facing a tragedy that will put them to the test.

Salvador Calvo will talk about his career, about the magic of cinema and audiovisual creativity in the meeting that will take place on Monday, February 3, at the Gandia campus of the Polytechnic University of Valencia (UPV). The event, organized by the Innovation Chair with the collaboration of eMove International Festival, is open to the public and aimed especially at students of the Degree in Audiovisual Communication and the Master’s Degree in Transmedia Communication.
