Next Thursday April 11th, at 12:30h at the Projection Room we welcome ERRA arquitectura, to talk about the Roig Arena project. A multi-space, multipurpose and flexible covered enclosure, prepared to hold events simultaneously 365 days a year. They will give us a talk about the process from the conceptual design to the construction process and the national and international collaborations involved in the project.
ABOUT THE ROIG ARENA PROJECT
The ROIG ARENA project is an initiative promoted by LICAMPA 1617 S.L., Juan Roig’s patrimonial company. This entity was created with the express purpose of promoting the construction of an Arena in Valencia, which is part of Juan Roig’s Llegat project, together with other institutions such as Marina d’Empreses, Fundació Trinidad Alfonso, València Basket and L’Alqueria del Basket.
The main objective of the project is the creation of a large multipurpose venue of national and international reference, which will host sports, cultural and entertainment events in the city of Valencia.
The Arena, designed by the renowned architects of HOK and ERRA, will have the capacity to dynamize the entertainment market by offering a covered space with capacity for up to 15,600 spectators in sports events and 18,600 in concerts.
With a total built area of approximately 47,000 square meters, the venue will include a 1,200-square-meter multi-purpose hall, restaurant areas, a wide range of venues, terraces and premium areas. In addition, it will be equipped with the most advanced technology for the broadcasting of shows.
It is expected that, if the proceedings continue as planned, the Arena, the works of which were to begin in June 2020, will be inaugurated in Valencia in 2024.
Functionality will be essential to the success of the Arena. The design will incorporate an infrastructure that will allow this to happen by having, for example, exceptional acoustics in all active ways, unobstructed views for all spectators or sufficient entry and sales points, among others.
It will also take into account a wide range of intelligent solutions for the preservation of the environment and the treatment of factors related to human health and well-being. The sustainability strategy focuses on reducing energy and water demand with passive strategies and optimal comfort and wellbeing, while addressing active system efficiency, waste minimization and the use of sustainable and local materials.
In addition to the main enclosure, the construction of complementary infrastructures is foreseen to dynamize the neighborhood, such as a public park with green areas of 20,000 square meters and a new infrastructure for the public school “Els Arts”.
The total investment foreseen for the project is 280 million euros, financed altruistically by Juan Roig’s personal patrimony.
The construction of this modern and innovative Arena will provide the city of Valencia with one of the best facilities of the world circuit and it is estimated that it will generate at least 300 direct and indirect jobs, with an annual economic impact of more than 10 million euros to the city.
