ELCA. Landscape of poetic and artistic inspiration

Elca is the name given to the farm located in the municipality of Oliva, property of the poet Francisco Brines, 2020 Cervantes Prize for Literature. The architectural and landscape complex was declared a Site of Cultural Interest in 2023, and its value is largely due to its inspirational component in Brines’s poetry. The house was a witness to the poet’s childhood, it was the place that gave meaning to his life and where he learned the meaning of poetry. At the same time, Elca also became a source of inspiration for the painter Mariona Brines, the poet’s niece. Mariona transforms the place into a pictorial work, through a rereading of the landscape and Brines’s poetry. In Brines’ own words: “what in me has had a consequence in rhythmic words and written images, in her are colors and shapes: plastic images.” This exhibition proposes, on the one hand, to reread the place through drawing, representing its different elements, to try to decipher the values ​​that have served as inspiration for both artists. And, on the other hand, show the pictorial work of Mariona Brines, to make us enjoy a plastic experience resulting from inspiration in a place with great significant value.
