UNIVERSITY ACTIVITY WEEK 4-10N

We are sending you this COMMUNICATION TO THE UPV COMMUNITY REGARDING THE ACTIVITY OF THE UPCOMING WEEK:

The first thing is to wish you and your loved ones the best possible given the tragic situation we are going through. We are aware that in these difficult times only the support among us and solidarity can make us overcome this catastrophe.

The force majeure situation makes it necessary to extend the exceptional measures taken, and cancel all academic activities next week, from November 4 through November 10. This implies the cancellation of classes in any modality, exams, academic deliveries, practices or laboratories, as well as any activity organized by other institutions on our campuses.

The important thing now is to be available to provide all possible assistance in the reconstruction phase that we have already begun, to attend to the affected people in our environment and to show the solidarity of the UPV community, as an institution that serves society, especially in these difficult times. We remind you of the need to follow the official channels of the various institutions that are managing the relief efforts.

The condition of the three campuses shows no significant damage and, in response to the demand for safe spaces, as far as possible the facilities will remain open, with library, cafeterias and gymnasium services.

With respect to university personnel, the provision of services will be carried out under a flexible regime to minimize risks, facilitate the recovery of normality and guarantee the continuity of the university’s activity:
– Until further notice, staff whose travel to the UPV is compromised or involves any risk, may continue to perform their work in teleworking regime. Likewise, the personnel who, due to closures of educational, socio-health or similar centers, must take care of relatives or cohabitants, will be able to telework.
– Obviously, those who have suffered personal or material damage and are personally engaged in restoring normalcy to their homes or lives are exempt from attending and working.

In any case, it is essential that the personnel communicate the circumstances in which they find themselves to their manager and keep him/her informed regularly, so that we can adopt the necessary measures for their assistance and maintain the functioning of the university within this exceptionality. Management will evaluate the specific circumstances of those units that may see some part of their activity seriously compromised by the absence of essential personnel, being possible the cancellation of services or the closure of buildings in case of not being able to maintain normality.

This situation will remain in effect until November 10. The University will proceed to reevaluate the situation on November 8 and, if necessary, communicate any variation of these conditions or their maintenance.

We appreciate the commendable work of all the staff, as well as the understanding for the difficulties that may be occurring and we appeal to the solidarity with all those affected.

You can follow all the information in the different communication channels of the UPV.
