Two third places at the SAE Aero Design West in Los Angeles confirm Aero Design UPV among the world’s elite in aircraft design.
The trophy cabinets in which they keep their trophies are becoming too small. We are referring to the team Aero Design UPVwho in the last competition in which he participated, the prestigious SAE Aero Design West 2024The company, which is located in Los Angeles (United States), won two third places in the categories of Overall and of Mission Performance. A performance against other university teams from all over the world that the team does not hesitate to describe as “very successful”.
The competition was held at the Apollo XI airfield in the Californian city, and consisted of overcoming and setting the best possible record in different tests that were evaluated by an expert jury. Thus, the most decisive test consisted of the aircraft flying over areas with randomly colored targets, recording their coordinates and then making precise landings. At the same time, they had to carry a certain weight inside bags of water.
“A feat.”
Aero Design UPV’s performance went from strength to strength as, late in the competition, it had to deal with an unexpected mishap. Specifically, it had to resolve a failure in the deployment of the smallest autonomous support aircraft (PADA). Before the last day and in the early hours of the morning, the team was forced to readjust different parameters of its aircraft White Fury. The technical improvements introduced at the last minute, and a skillful driving skills served to climb positions in the final standings and finish on the podium in the categories of Overall and Mission Performance.
A “feat that highlights the value of technical skill, as well as the team’s ability to overcome obstacles and work together towards a common goal,” the group emphasizes.
