Silvia Terrasa Barrena Assumes the Presidency of CODDII

The UPV School of Computer Engineering celebrates the promotion of its director, Silvia Terrasa Barrena, to the presidency of CODDII, consolidating its commitment to academic excellence and innovation.

Silvia Terrasa Barrena, director of the Escola Tècnica Superior d’Enginyeria Informàtica (ETSINF) of the Universitat Politècnica has been appointed as the new president of the Conference of Directors and Deans of Computer Engineering (CODDII) during the last general assembly held in Zaragoza on January 25.

Terrasa has held the position of director of the ETSINF since 2017 and has been a full professor at the same institution since 2009 where she has played key roles in teaching and university management, leading initiatives for the continuous improvement of educational quality and the accreditation of the degrees offered by the institution.

As a professor, Terrasa has taught subjects such as ‘Computer Structure’, ‘Fundamentals of Operating Systems’ and ‘Operating Systems’. In addition, she has supervised a large number of undergraduate and master’s degree final projects that have addressed topics ranging from the implementation of electronic invoicing systems, online security and its application to ecommerce, distributed candidate selection, to the development of platforms for patient monitoring.

In the field of university management, she played a key role as deputy director of Quality and Teaching at ETSINF, leading actions to ensure excellence in teaching and obtaining accreditations both nationally and internationally for educational programs.

In addition, he has actively contributed to research in the Industrial Informatics group of the UPV, participating in significant projects related to electronic invoicing and security analysis in operating systems. His commitment to innovative educational projects and his contribution to sustainable development through technology also stand out in his professional profile.

In 2020, the Valencian government selected her as one of the women of reference in the #Vullsercom campaign, “I want to be like”, with the aim of promoting technological vocations among girls.

Terrasa has also distinguished herself for her active participation in congresses and her contribution to specialized publications, which highlights her commitment as an academic in the promotion of knowledge in her field. She has also collaborated in research projects and contracts at both national and European level, working closely with various institutions and companies for the development of advanced technologies and reliable systems.
