espai.inf showroom: a link between technology and art
The School of Computer Engineering of the Universitat Politècnica de València (UPV) has a unique space in building 1E: the espai.inf exhibition hall. Inaugurated in 2011, espai.inf has become an essential bridge that connects students and staff of the school with artistic and cultural initiatives of various kinds. This space, born to foster dialogue between technology and art, also enriches university life and the educational and professional experience of the participants. It also provides an opportunity to explore new forms of expression and critical thinking.
Invitation to Participate
Espai.inf remains committed to its mission to enrich the academic and cultural environment of the UPV. We invite the entire university community to collaborate and participate in future exhibitions and activities. If you have an artistic or cultural proposal that you would like to share, please do not hesitate to contact the Subdirección de Cultura de la ETSINF.
For more information or to send your proposals, please contact the Subdirección de Cultura at espai.inf@etsinf.upv.es. We look forward to hearing from you!
A review of some of the exhibits
Since its opening, espai.inf has been the venue for a variety of exhibitions that reflect the diversity and creativity of both local and international artists. Some of the exhibitions have been:
“Snapshots of cooperation”(2017): with photographs linked to projects that promote sustainable human development, education for development or social participation, and show the problems arising from poverty and inequality.
“Process of elaboration of the ETSINF murals”: This exhibition presented images and sketches by artist Javier Parra of the murals located on floors 1 and 2 of building 1E. The original murals designed by Josep Renau in 1969 were updated to reflect contemporary issues such as climate change and the feminist revolution.
“Dansa”(2019): by the student Juan Dolz, a photography project born from the need to experiment, in this case with the fusion of two elements in principle contradictory as ballet and the street.
“Presentation of the short film Olvido” (2019): by student Andrea Landa, a project that was born in the elective subjects of EPA (editing, postproduction and digital audio synthesis) and EPV (digital video editing and postproduction) and resulted in this short film.
“The Golden Age of Spanish Software” (2022): As part of the RetróPolis Valencia 2022 event, this exhibition paid tribute to key figures in software development in Spain during the 1980s. The exhibition included informative panels and audiovisual projections, offering a dynamic perspective of this era.
“The voice of my silences” (2023): By Valencian painter and sculptor Vicente Marzal, this exhibition addressed the author’s experience with his hearing disability, using colors and symbols such as the granota (frog) to represent sound and silence. The exhibition stood out for its profound sensitivity and ability to overcome.
