The Radiation Service (SRAD) of the Universitat Politècnica de València, created in 1992, is responsible for coordinating activities related to radiation protection against ionizing radiation. Its mission covers the protection of workers and the university community, especially in the facilities of the Authorized Radioactive Facility (IRA-UPV), as well as the environmental radiological monitoring and evaluation in the surroundings of the UPV and the Valencian Community, in support of the competent authorities in the protection of the public and the environment against the risks derived from radiation. This last task is carried out entirely by the Environmental Radioactivity Laboratory (LRA).
