Access requirements

To access this degree, the general requirements established in Royal Decree 822/2021, specifically in Article 18 thereof, apply, as well as the regulations of Pre-registration and Admission to Master’s Degrees of the Universitat Politècnica de València (UPV).

The master’s degree is preferably aimed at students with the following undergraduate degrees:

  • Degree in Interior Architectural Design
  • Degree in Fundamentals of Architecture / Degree in Architecture
  • Architectural degrees, prior to the Bologna Process

Students in possession of the following related undergraduate degrees may also be admitted:

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Building Engineering / Bachelor’s Degree in Technical Architecture
  • Degree in Design and Creative Technologies
  • Degree in Design Engineering
  • Other undergraduate degrees equivalent to the above, in duration and content.

Language requirement

Foreign students whose native language is neither Spanish nor English, must provide, as a preregistration requirement, a certificate of Spanish level B2, certified by any of the organizations recognized by ACLES (Association of Language Centers of Higher Education in Spain) or a certificate of English level B2, certified by any of the organizations recognized by ACLES (Asociación de Centros de Lenguas de la Enseñanza Superior en España) or a certificate of Valencian language level B2, providing the Certificate of Knowledge of Valencian, from any university of the Comunitat Valenciana belonging to CIEACOVA (Comisión Interuniversitaria de Estandarización de Acreditaciones de Acreditaciones de Conocimientos de Valenciano), or from the Junta Qualificadora de la Generalitat Valenciana (Qualifying Board of the Generalitat Valenciana). Students who have studied in educational systems that use Spanish, Valencian or English as a vehicular language will be exempt from this accreditation.

Admission for disabled students

For students with specific educational needs arising from a disability, appropriate support and counseling services will be established to assess the needs of curricular adaptations, itineraries or alternative studies, through the support of the CEDAT Foundation of the UPV.

The CEDAT Foundation of the UPV offers information and advice to members of the university community with disabilities, as well as accompaniment and support in the classroom. In addition, it provides technical aids for study to those members of the student body who, due to their special educational needs, require it. It also promotes and manages training and employment actions for this group, both inside and outside the UPV campuses, and offers different services from its Special Employment Center.

The foundation also carries out projects for the elimination of architectural and urban barriers, comprehensive accessibility plans, accessibility audits, project reviews, advice and design of ideal accessibility models.

Admission criteria will be based on the following aspects:

Evaluation of the academic record

In the case of records qualified in scales other than those indicated in RD 1125/2003, the interested party will be required to provide a statement of equivalence of average grades of university studies carried out in foreign centers obtained from the Ministry responsible for Universities. Those who do not provide this document will be assigned a 5 as the average grade point average.

The academic record, evaluated as indicated, will have a weight of 40%.

Correspondence of the competences of the access degree with those of the Reference Degree.

The adequacy of the academic record to the contents of the master’s degree will have a weight of 30%.

  • Degree in Interior Architectural Design: 10 points
  • Degree in Fundamentals of Architecture / Bachelor’s Degree in Architecture or equivalent: 10 points
  • Architect’s degree, prior to the Bologna Process: 10 points
  • Degree level qualifications in the field of Building Engineering/Technical Architecture, Design and Creative Technologies, Design Engineering: 8 points
  • Other equivalent undergraduate degrees, after evaluation of their curriculum vitae by the Master’s Academic Committee: 6 points.

Curriculum Vitae

Work experience in the field of interior design, once assessed by the Master’s Academic Committee, will have a weight of 20%.

Other merits

  • Master’s degree level studies (Master of Architecture, Master of Building, or equivalent)
  • Have received academic achievement awards or prizes in architecture and/or design competitions, sufficiently justified, which will have a weight of 5%.

As many applicants will be admitted as places are offered, in strict order of priority. In the event of resignations, and provided that there are applications on the waiting list, vacancies will be filled until the number of places offered is completed or the waiting list is exhausted, following the order of priority established above.

Scholarships

Studies leading to an official university degree allow access to scholarships and grants. The Ministry of Education, the Generalitat Valenciana and the Universitat Politècnica de València itself offer various scholarships and grants.

General scholarships for students pursuing post-compulsory studies valid throughout the national territory. The scholarship will consist of exemption from payment of fees for the provision of university academic services (tuition fees), corresponding to subjects enrolled for the first time. Other fixed and variable amounts may also be obtained, if the requirements established for this purpose are met.

For the awarding of the scholarship it is necessary to prove administrative residence in the Valencian Community and not to exceed the income thresholds established by the call, as well as to comply with the general and academic requirements. The scholarship consists of the exemption from the payment of fees for the provision of university academic services (tuition fees), for subjects enrolled in first and second enrollment.

The Universitat Politècnica de València offers various scholarships or grants such as social action grants, canteen grants or collaboration training grants. There are also grants for sportsmen and women.

Pre-registration process

Pre-registration is the procedure used to order all the applications received by each university master’s degree, according to the access requirements that have been established and the evaluation of the merits presented by each applicant. It is a procedure that, at the Universitat Politècnica de València, is carried out through an online application and with a different (longer) deadline for students from outside the European Union.
