Access requirements

In accordance with the regulations governing access to official Master’s degree courses reflected in Article 18 of Royal Decree 822/2021, of September 28, which establishes the organization of university education, in order to access official Master’s degree courses it will be necessary to hold an official Spanish university degree or another issued by a higher education institution belonging to another member state of the European Higher Education Area that entitles access to Master’s degree courses in that country. Likewise, graduates from educational systems outside the European Higher Education Area may be admitted without the need for the homologation of their degrees, subject to verification by the University that they accredit a level of education equivalent to the corresponding official Spanish university degrees and that they entitle the holder to access postgraduate studies in the country issuing the degree. Access by this route will not imply, in any case, the homologation of the previous degree held by the interested party, nor its recognition for purposes other than that of studying for the Master’s degree.

Areas of knowledge of the admission profiles:

  • Architecture, construction, building and urban planning, and civil engineering.
  • Industrial engineering, mechanical engineering, automatic engineering, industrial organization engineering and navigation engineering.
  • Chemical engineering, materials engineering and environmental engineering.

Documentation required for the application:

  • Certified copy of the official titles that he/she has, with certification of the qualifications obtained.
  • For degrees other than those offered at the UPV, the programs that the applicant deems appropriate or that the Commission requires must be provided.
  • At the request of the Commission, the documentation provided in foreign languages must be accompanied by a translation into Spanish or Valencian by a sworn translator.

Admission for disabled students

For students with specific educational needs arising from a disability, appropriate support and counselling services will be established to assess the needs of curricular adaptations, itineraries or alternative studies, through the support of the CEDAT Foundation of the UPV.

The CEDAT Foundation of the UPV offers information and advice to members of the university community with disabilities, as well as accompaniment and support in the classroom. In addition, it provides technical aids for study to those members of the student body who, due to their special educational needs, require it. It also promotes and manages training and employment actions for this group, both inside and outside the UPV campuses, and offers different services from its Special Employment Center.

The foundation also carries out projects for the elimination of architectural and urban barriers, comprehensive accessibility plans, accessibility audits, project reviews, advice and design of ideal accessibility models.

General information on access can be found in the Alumni Service – Access

Admission criteria

The Master’s Academic Committee (CAT) will be in charge of the admission process. The CAT will study each application and may reject those applications that do not have the competencies indicated above.

The following criteria are established for the ranking of applications for admission:

A

Access qualification

The suitability of the access degree with the objectives and contents of the Master will be evaluated.

B

Priority of choice in the registration process

Preference is given to candidates who have applied for admission with priority 1, then those who give priority 2, and so on.

C

Academic record of the entrance qualification

The candidate’s academic record will be evaluated.

The degree will be taught in Spanish. Foreign applicants from countries where Spanish is not an official language must prove a knowledge of this language equivalent to at least level B1 of the Common European Framework of Reference for Languages (CEFR).

  • Applicants who have the corresponding official certificate: the certificates accepted by ACLES, which are published on the website of the Language Center of the Universitat Politècnica de València, will be accepted as valid.
  • In addition to the presentation of the corresponding certificate, the Master’s Academic Committee may require the candidate to undergo a personal interview in order to verify his/her level in the use and understanding of Spanish.
  • Applicants with knowledge of the language, but without a certificate of proficiency: the Academic Committee of the Master’s Program will request a personal interview with the candidate in order to verify his/her level in the use and understanding of Spanish.

Studies leading to an official university degree allow access to scholarships and grants. The Ministry of Education, the Generalitat Valenciana and the Universitat Politècnica de València itself offer various scholarships and grants.

The scholarship will consist of exemption from payment of fees for the provision of university academic services (tuition fees), corresponding to subjects enrolled for the first time. Other fixed and variable amounts may also be obtained, if the requirements established for this purpose are met.

For the awarding of the scholarship, it is necessary to prove administrative residence in the Valencian Community and not to exceed the income thresholds established by the call, as well as to comply with the general and academic requirements. The scholarship consists of the exemption from the payment of fees for the provision of university academic services (tuition fees), for subjects enrolled in first and second enrollment.
