Student Luli Gerbaudo joins the Endure project funded by Europe

Our second year student Luli Gerbaudo will join the Endure project, promoted by the Universitat Politècnica de València and funded by the European Research Council with more than 2.5 million euros. A project, carried out by ICITECH’s Building Resilient, which aims to define a new philosophy of building design to prevent the spread of failures that could lead to disproportionate collapses.

Luli graduated in Civil Engineering at the National University of Córdoba and is currently finishing the Master’s Degree in Concrete Engineering at the UPV. The student was chosen for the project after taking into account several aspects: previous training at her host university, specific training in concrete structures, the ability to work in a team, the desire to continue learning and the ability to communicate;

His role at Endure will be to design new structural fuses that will prevent the propagation of failures in buildings. These fuses will be implemented in laboratory specimens and a full-scale building, which will be subjected to various failure scenarios. “We have chosen Luli because we believe she will bring to the project her background in technical and scientific communication, extreme events on buildings, building simulation and calculation techniques, and leadership, as she will be responsible for an ambitious experimental campaign,” says Marina Oliver, Grants Manager at Building Resilient;

Luli will join a research group composed of great professionals and experts in structural engineering and building: José Adam (principal investigator), Marina Oliver (project manager), Manuel Buitrago (postdoctoral researcher), Nirvan Makoond (postdoctoral researcher), Giacomo Caredda (predoctoral researcher), Diego Cetina (predoctoral researcher) and Lorenzo Martin (predoctoral researcher).
