Title description
Maintenance is a typical engineering activity that currently uses a multitude of resources such as sophisticated measuring instruments, powerful computer equipment, specific software, etc. This requires multidisciplinary training in technical, economic, statistical, quality, etc. topics from those responsible for its management, in order to achieve a continuous improvement of the execution plans and processes with a view to achieving the optimal values of reliability, availability, maintainability and safety (RAMS).
The latest study by the Spanish Maintenance Association states that maintenance involves the entire national economy, representing around 9.4% of the GDP. This gives an idea of the importance of maintenance as a strategic sector, which employs a multitude of professionals, of all kinds of qualifications, but with a clear tendency towards industrial engineering graduates. This Master responds to the current need for training in Maintenance Engineering, and supplements or complements the shortcomings of current university degrees.
Given the multidisciplinary nature of Maintenance, the Master offers a wide range of subjects, with a view to the fact that its students achieve rapid operability in any work environment, combining technical, economic, computer, logistical, management, etc. contingents.
Objectives of the title

The main objective of the Master’s Degree in Maintenance Engineering is to professionally train future managers in this area of the company. Given the multidisciplinary nature of maintenance, the Master offers a wide range of subjects so that its graduates achieve a quick operability in any work environment, combining technical, economic, computer, logistic, management, etc. contingents.

The teaching of this Master’s Degree in Maintenance Engineering aims to train professionals who will hold positions of responsibility in the Maintenance Department of high-level industrial companies.

To train students in the design, execution and continuous improvement of maintenance plans, processes and resources.

The knowledge and skills acquired in this Master allow students to have a general vision of the wide field of maintenance, which will allow them to integrate into any kind of manufacturing or service process that may be needed, the maintenance of different machines, vehicles, installations or buildings, without forgetting important aspects in the current context such as quality management, environmental management and occupational health and safety.
Professional services
Some of the most important professional projects to be highlighted are:
- Maintenance Manager: Responsible for planning, coordinating and optimizing maintenance activities in manufacturing, energy and transport companies, among others.
- Maintenance Management Consultant: Provides advice to companies on maintenance strategies, cost optimization and application of technical standards.
- Reliability Engineer: Specialist in improving equipment availability and efficiency by analyzing failures and implementing predictive maintenance strategies.
- Specialist in Predictive Maintenance and Monitoring: Uses technologies such as vibration analysis, thermography and ultrasound to prevent failures in industrial equipment.
- Industrial Asset Manager: In charge of maximizing the life cycle and performance of physical assets in sectors such as oil, gas, automotive, manufacturing, services, electrical, among others.
- Fleet and Transport Maintenance Manager: Responsible for planning and optimizing the maintenance of vehicles and transport equipment, ensuring the availability and safety of the fleet through the use of management and preventive maintenance programs.

Research and access to doctorate
He studies a doctorate at ETSIADI and discovers the academic excellence and cutting-edge research in the doctoral programs of the Escola Tècnica Superior d’Enginyeria Aeroespacial i Disseny Industrial.
Also at the Doctoral School you will find all the programs offered by the UPV.
The Subdirecció de Relacions Internacionals de l’Escola Tècnica Superior d’Enginyeria Aeroespacial i Disseny Industrial (ETSIADI)develops an important international relations activity.
Every year hundreds of students have the opportunity to complete their training in a foreign institution. ETSIADI participates in a large number of cooperation programs, both at European and world level.
Installations and laboratories
The School of Aerospace Engineering and Industrial Design is located at the Vera Campus of the UPV (Valencia), occupying a built area of 16,859 square meters with a parking lot, has its own laboratories and a hangar annexed to the main building that is used as a multidisciplinary laboratory and flight simulation.

Master’s thesis
The Master’s thesis represents the last stage of the student’s training. It is a multidisciplinary work related to the subjects studied in the degree. The preamble of the UPV’s main regulations, which regulates all phases of the process, defines the TFM as “an autonomous activity of the student with the support of one or more tutors where the final result must always be an individual work of the student, defended in front of an examining board”. It is, therefore, an original exercise to be carried out individually and to be presented and defended in front of a university tribunal.
The main objective of a master’s thesis is to demonstrate the skills acquired during the master’s degree training. Given its integrative nature, the theoretical and practical training acquired by the student will conclude with the elaboration and defense of this final thesis, which will contribute to complete the development of all the competences established for the degree.
On the website of the Escola Tècnica Superior d’Enginyeria Aeroespacial i Disseny Industrial, you can find more detailed information about the process and each of the steps to be taken (Regulations and recommendations; Selection and assignment of TFM; Calendar to perform the Defenses; Evaluation process; etc.).
The recommendations for the development of the MUIM TFM are indicated in the following link:
