Description of the title
This Master responds to the demand for specialists in the post-production of audiovisual products focused on entertainment, informative, educational and public service contents that take full advantage of the interactive and innovative capabilities of the new digital media and that represent a boost to integrate the maximum number of citizens in the Information and Knowledge Society.
The Master’s Degree trains professionals specialized in the final phase of the production process of an audiovisual product, covering in the common audiovisual module the basic subjects in technology, narration, editing and composition from the point of view of both audio and video, to go on to specialize in each branch with a wide range of electives. It is a master’s degree with a professional and research orientation, which is reflected in two different training itineraries. It is possible to choose between internships in external entities, or the development of an original research work as a final master’s degree project, allowing to extend the line of research with a doctoral thesis in the doctoral program of Cultural Industries and Communication of the UPV.
The Master is taught at the Gandia campus due to the high specialization of its faculty and research staff, as evidenced by the trajectory of their degrees, especially Audiovisual Communication, Telecommunications Engineering in its specialty of Sound and Image and the Master in Acoustic Engineering. At the same time allowing the use of shared facilities and laboratories such as the TV studio, the Radio studio, the camerography classroom, the audiovisual equipment for filming, sound recording and lighting, etc.. With more than 80 collaborating companies of reference in the audiovisual sector, so that the students of the master’s degree can carry out internships and/or their final master’s degree project in companies of the sector.
Among its teaching staff, it has the participation, as external teachers, of different professionals of the sector, which has allowed reaching several external certification agreements with the following entities participating in the Master’s Degree:
- AVID, the only external AVID certifying teacher in Spain will teach classes, certifying his classes with an external exam.
- Adobe After Effects, an external certifying teacher and expert in this software package will give classes.
- Apple Logic Studio, will be taught by a certifying teacher and expert in this software package, certifying his classes with an external exam.
- Protools, an external lecturer and expert in this software package will give classes.
The master’s program is equipped with a specific classroom equipped with post-production equipment and software used in the professional world. A classroom with 21 Apple® devices and licenses for AVID®, Protools®, Apple® Logic Studio and Adobe® Production Premium with After Effects, among others.
Objectives of the degree

The Master’s Degree in Digital Postproduction of the UPV trains professionals in the language, techniques and tools necessary to perform the tasks of digital video and audio postproduction demanded by the sector.

Graduates will be able to form part of interdisciplinary teams in audiovisual production companies, favoring communication and the exchange of knowledge.

They will also know how to plan, design and develop with criteria the post-production of an audiovisual product; deepen in non-linear editing and video and audio composition;

To investigate the relationship between sound and image from a creative, aesthetic and narrative point of view in different audiovisual media and technologies;

Master the technologies and work processes in digital post-production and develop new audiovisual genres through post-production techniques.
Career opportunities
Graduates are engaged in tasks such as noise and vibration control in various fields.
- They prepare noise maps and condition all types of facilities to isolate sound or improve acoustic quality.
- Advice to architects in the design of halls such as theaters, auditoriums, etc.
- They work in different areas of electroacoustics such as the design, manufacture and control of public address systems.
- Design of ultrasound systems for medical, industrial and underwater applications.

Internships
The Study Plan includes curricular internships; it is possible to carry out internships in companies throughout the course. These internships are determined by the needs of the collaborating companies and change every year.

The UPV offers doctoral programs for students who complete the Master’s degree in Digital Postproduction.
Through agreements with related universities, the International Office of the Gandía Campus organizes possible exchanges.

Master’s Thesis
The Master’s Thesis (TFM), with a workload equivalent to 12 ECTS, can be developed within two modalities, professional orientation and research orientation. In the first one, it is possible to do the work within a company.
