Locator of Affected Vehicles

A UPV Mechanical Engineering student sets up a website to locate missing vehicles because of the DANA

[ 15/11/2024 ]

Knowledge is power, and René Molina Ávila has made it available to society. This 2nd-year Mechanical Engineering student has designed and set up a collaborative website that allows you to geolocate a vehicle affected by the devastations of the DANA. The website is https://tucochedana.es.

The main virtue of this tool is the simplicity of its navigability, as the two main sections are well-defined:

  • Consult lost vehicles. The query is made by entering the number plate of the missing vehicle, and the exact location is displayed.
  • Register a vehicle found. It allows you to register a vehicle using its plate number.

This registration and enquiry system has collected just over 600 vehicles in its database in three days.

Early need

René Molina says, "I have always wanted to develop an idea that helps people. The day after the DANA, I went to one of the affected areas. I quickly realised the need for people to locate their missing vehicles as soon as possible.

His website is the fruit of the spirit of solidarity and the knowledge of this student from Almería and his high school programming teacher Juanfran Soler, who has helped him "the whole time", he insists.
