Stay in (Quédate)

100 students or recent graduates from the UPV are participating in the talent recruitment programme, now in its eighth edition

[ 28/02/2025 ]

500 registrations, 100 students selected, 31 participating companies and one objective: to attract university talent. Quédate (Stay in), the programme launched by the Vice-Rectorate for Employment and Lifelong Learning at the UPV, is now in its eighth edition. Thanks to this initiative, just over 400 participants from previous editions have entered the labour market. The acting Vice-Rector for Employment and Lifelong Learning at the UPV, Lola Salvador, explains that '7 out of 10 participants end up in one of the participating companies, which is why we always seek to repeat those that are most successful in promoting employability, those that attract talent and are closely linked to the university'.

Participants

The requirements for participation are to be students at the UPV in the final academic year of their degree or official master's or to have completed studies in the last two academic years prior to the current one. One of the selection criteria is the academic record, but cross-curricular competencies are also evaluated.

The aim of Quédate is to retain university talent and facilitate employability. According to data provided by the UPV Employment Observatory, a survey conducted three years after graduation revealed that, of the graduates who responded that they were working, 16% were abroad.

The hundred people selected took part in the talent recruitment day held on 27 February in the UPV sports hall - a meeting place for companies and young people. A group dynamic has been organised, which, in this edition, has focused on sustainability. During the morning, human resources managers from the 31 participating companies met and evaluated the young people in person to make the selection that best suits them.

Cosme Fernández, from Human Resources at El Corte Inglés, a company participating in the second year, positively values this initiative because it is one of the few occasions that human resources departments have to contact these young talents directly. Normally, it would be up to them to contact us, and in one morning, we make a lot of contacts, and we take away a backpack full of talent'.

Companies

In this eighth edition, 31 companies have participated, such as Acciona, AIMPLAS (Plastic Technology Institute), Airbus, Bertolín Group, BP, Celestica, Cimsa, Delibreads, Deloitte, Edwards Lifesciences Europe, El Corte Inglés, EY, FERMAX Spain, Ford Motor Company, FORVIA, GMV, Grefusa, Gimeno Group, Huawei, IT8, Jones Engineering, MAHLE, NTT, Grupo Pavasal, Power Electronics, PwC, Siemens Mobility, Stadler Valencia, TORRECID S.A., ZARA HOME, ZGR Corporación, as well as Grupo La Plana as a dynamic company and the Valencia City Council through the Talent Chair.

This conference was initially scheduled for 28 November but had to be postponed due to the consequences of the flood. Among other circumstances, the sports centre was occupied by personnel who participated in cleaning the affected areas and supporting the victims.
